Intellectual property (IP) refers to creations of the mind, such as inventions, literary and artistic works, and commercial design. Intellectual property embraces nearly everything we do. At home and at work, at rest and at play, we are surrounded by the fruits of human creativity and invention. The field of copyright and related rights protects the creators of original works. However, technological development and world-wide communication tools raise new questions concerning the laws that defend creative genius. Traverse City attorney Lawrence R. LaSusa will share his knowledge of IP in this global era. Mr. LaSusa is the author of several national and regional articles on intellectual property, trademarks, trade secrets and employment issues.

Voices of the Sixties,” as well as recipient of the Emmy Award for Lifetime Achievement and the first journalist to ever receive the George Catlett Marshall Medal, the U.S. Army’s highest award.

Damon Knight is an independent filmmaker and award winning visual effects artist. A native of northern Michigan, Damon graduated from Petoskey High School and relocated to Hollywood to become an MTV director. His film credits include Titanic, Mortal Combat II, Matrix Reloaded, Matrix Revolutions and a slew of other films. Damon discusses his work in special effects and the application of 3D animation for video set design.
